What must I do to be saved

This is a question that has been asked either verbally or in the minds of most people throughout history. It is obvious that mankind has been on a quest of finding the answer to this question when we consider the multitude of religious beliefs that are thoughout history and throughout the globe. Many of these religions offer various degrees of security for the afterlife. How then can I know the truth when there are so many so called truths out there?

The first thing is to consider the source of the answer. How reliable is it?

Does it stand the test of time? (If it is new then it is probably not true)

Does it stand the test of observable truth? ( We should not check our God given brains at the door of any religion)

Does it stand the test of Moral Integrity? ( If the fruit is bad then the root is bad)

There is a person who meets all the tests that you can try on Him and that is the person of Jesus Christ

The reliablity of the words and conduct of Jesus has stood the time test and the historical accuracy test. No one has affected the human race throughout history more than the person of Jesus Christ.

While a particular religion may give cause for suspicion or doubt the person of Jesus stands above all that.

The wisdom and clarity and power that Jesus lived and spoke still speaks today.

So to answer the question about what it takes to be saved I can go to the most reliable source for answers. I do not need someone to interpret those answers from Jesus. His teaching is clear and repetitive so that we need not be confused. Jesus promised eternal life for those who trust in Him. He was the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. Through faith in Him all our sins are forgiven and eternal life is gauranteed.

Look at just one verse of scripture spoken by Jesus Christ:

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life John 3:16”

Everlasting life is promised to those who believe in Jesus. Not perishing is promised to those who believe in Jesus.

Notice you are not given a list of dos and don’ts in order to have eternal life. You are invited to believe in Jesus Christ. That is to rely (trust) in Him. This will change your whole life. It will cause good works to come because it is His power that will transform us.

Many people think that they will be saved by their good works. Indeed most religious systems are based on the premise that our salvation is contingent on our conduct. Did you know that no one is saved by keeping the law for the law shows us up that we are sinners?

Rom 3:28  Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law.

Eph 2:8  For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,

Eph 2:9  not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Jesus taught that our salvation is contingent on our faith (reliance) on Him and that good works follow this kind of faith.

Eph 2:10  For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

How liberating this is. I do not have to look to my own performance to save me. If I did I could never be sure, for we all are sinners and come short of the standard that God has set. But our hope can be fixed in Jesus Christ who died for all our sins and took the full punishment for sin on Himself at the cross. So there is no more punishment for those who accept the free gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ

Rom 6:23  For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

So the short and simple answer that we offer to you today is found in Acts 16:31 and 32 where someone asks the Apostle Paul the question and he gives the answer

Act 16:30  And he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”

Act 16:31  So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

Can we encourage you today to stop trusting in yourself or religion or some other person other than Jesus Christ and simply put all your trust in Jesus who will save you completely?

Heb 7:25  Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.

Joh 10:27  My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

Joh 10:28  And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.

Joh 10:29  My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.

Joh 10:30  I and My Father are one.”

Hello and Greetings in Christ from Germany,

I have been browsing for Christian towns in Canada where i could spend a few days of holidays with my daughter (12 year old) we live in Germany by ourselves and we are thirsty for a Christian community. My daughter and I used to live in Alberta and we decided to come back to Germany and live here, continously. So, God s will we might be able to visit Cape Breton and will feel so blessd to attend your church while on holidays. We are still preparing for it. Love, in Christ, Mary Ann & Chiara

PS. Your Church s name was the one that I was led to so I can relate with the testimonies. My testimony is too long but I was once raised a Catholic and I was a re directed to Jesus Christ at the age of 16. I became a mother of 3 and I became a Yoga teacher here in Germany and I also was baptised as a Buddhist. Now, I was led back to Jesus Christ and that s where I am at and will be in the future, only with Christ the Lord.
Praise God for making your church and your Website visible.
    Mary Ann
